The Orchestra Expressions Curriculum (published by Alfred) and Comprehensive Musicianship for the Beginning Orchestra
This session will demonstrate a variety of teaching strategies to lift the beginning orchestra student beyond learning mere performance skills. Approaching the study of orchestral Masterworks through listening, analysis, background study, composer biographies, historical and cultural contexts, parallels to visual art, and the performance of orchestral arrangements, the beginning string student becomes an expressive, comprehensive musician.  Participants should bring instruments to best experience and enjoy this beginning string method.  A copy of Violin Book I and Book II will be given to all who attend.
Expressive Techniques for Orchestra, a secondary classroom curriculum for strings, takes all         string instruments, together, through position studies, shifting, two and three octave scales, clef studies, and performance materials, plus comprehensive musicianship activities which can be used at the start of each class meeting.  There has never before been such a comprehensive "all-in-one book" to keep in the folders of HS and advanced middle school orchestras.  A copy of the violin book will be given to participants.
Reading Session of Tempo Press and Alfred publications arranged by Sandra Dackow.  Choose from nearly 100 arrangements for Easy and Intermediate String Orchestra by New Jersey's own Sandra Dackow.  The reading session will honor requests from the folders, as well as introduce the newest publications.  Notes on rehearsal techniques will be included.

12:00 - Music give away - participants request the score and parts they would like to take home with them!
